Mats Sundin

I have been a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs ever since I can remember, I've been born and raised loving the Leafs. The entire time I've known them, they've been captained by one man, and one man only. He goes by the name of Mats Sundin. This year is the only year it's really been a tough decision for him whether he wants to play for the Leafs, not to mention play at all. I really hope that he sticks with them, but who really knows at this point. For Leafs fans, august 1st is D-Day.

That's the day he's announced that he's making his long awaited decision. He's having a tough time choosing which path to take at this point in his hockey career. He's 37 years old, and we all know he's still got a lot of game in him. I think it's just the fact of whether he can handle leaving Toronto, and saying that, if he decides he doesn't want to leave, can he handle another humiliating season? Let's face it, we all know it's going to be another sad year for us Leaf fans, but if Mats comes back, there may be a glimpse of hope. Besides retirement, the only thing I could see stopping him from coming back is the big fat contract that the Vancouver Canucks offered him. $20million for two years, no questions asked, most of us say "how could you pass that up?" Let's just hope Mats decides that he can pass that up. Let's hope he makes the right decision.

Man, what can I say? It would be a real kick in the chops to lose Sundin, but the brass seems to want to rebuild absolutely everything. I wish they'd get rid of Kaberle instead. He screws everything up when he brings the puck up and creates a hole in our D. The new kid they picked up in the draft looks promising.
